Presenter: Teresa Troup, MBA, BSW, Executive Director, NC Adult Day Services Association
The idea of opening an adult day center seems simple to many people because they feel good about helping others and they figure there is funding to pay for all the people who need and want the service. This session is designed to enlighten attendees about what is involved in opening an adult day center in North Carolina. We will discuss the business, regulations, funding and evidence-based tips for success. It is recommended that attendees review the NC Standards and Guidelines prior to the session, but it is not required.
About the Presenter: Teresa Troup returned in April 2025 as Executive Director of the NC Adult Day Services Association, a position she held for 23 years until 2018. All total she has worked for over 30 years in the adult day services field where she began her career working directly with local programs in a variety of supervisory and leadership positions. While working as the State Association Director, she also served for five years as Director of the National Adult Day Services Association. In addition to work in adult day services, she has leadership experience in assisted living administration, storm recovery, and community health work with Duke University Health System. She earned her undergraduate degree in Social Work from Campbell University and MBA Plus in Health Care administration from Gardner-Webb University.
